The Stars Are Aligning: The Revival of Zodiac Craft

Over the past week, Zodiac Craft has gone from being a server we talked about bringing back to a project that is actively taking shape.

There is still a lot of work ahead of us, but the foundation is being built every day. Servers are coming online, systems are being configured, worlds are being developed, the website is being expanded, and our team is beginning to settle into their roles.

This is not simply an attempt to reopen an old Minecraft server exactly as it was. We are taking the parts of Zodiac Craft that people loved, giving them a modern foundation, and building something that can grow into a long-term community.

Bringing Zodiac Craft Back

The idea behind the revival is simple: create a welcoming Minecraft community where players can build, explore, participate in events, meet new people, and find their place among the stars.

Our primary focus will be a community-driven Towny survival experience, but Zodiac Craft is being built as a network rather than a single server. Players will be able to travel through the Hub to different experiences, including Towny, Creative, OneBlock, events, and other game modes that may be introduced as the community grows.

Each server will have its own purpose while still feeling like part of one connected Zodiac Craft experience.

A great deal of the work this week has involved creating the technical foundation needed to make that vision possible.

Building the Network

Behind every portal, scoreboard, command, shop, and menu is an enormous amount of configuration.

Zodiac Craft is being built using a modern Minecraft network structure with Velocity connecting the different servers. Paper is being used for the individual game servers, and Geyser support is part of the plan so Bedrock players can join the community alongside Java players.

The servers have now been updated to Minecraft 26.2. This required more than replacing a few files. Every update affects plugins, configurations, worlds, permissions, menus, scoreboards, and other interconnected systems.

The team has been testing different parts of the network to identify compatibility problems and make sure features still function correctly on the new version.

We have also been working through the less glamorous but extremely important details that help a network feel polished. This includes scheduled restarts, backups, cross-server communication, network-wide player data, console access, and making sure the servers can reliably communicate with one another.

One major accomplishment was getting the scoreboard to synchronize across the network. Rather than the player experience feeling disconnected every time someone changes servers, important information can now follow them as they move between different parts of Zodiac Craft.

The network’s server time has also been changed to Eastern Time. Many Minecraft systems default to UTC, which can make logs, automated messages, events, and Discord notifications confusing. Moving everything to Eastern Time will make it easier for our team and community to coordinate activities.

Creating the Zodiac Craft Brand

The visual identity of Zodiac Craft has also been taking shape.

The brand uses a combination of purple, lavender blue, gold, and deep purple, with stars and zodiac imagery appearing throughout the server, website, graphics, and community messages.

Our goal is for Zodiac Craft to feel recognizable from the moment someone sees the logo, visits the website, reads a Discord announcement, or joins the Hub.

The server’s messaging has been updated with a more polished style, including welcome messages, network join notifications, server-switching messages, and first-time player greetings.

Rather than every system using generic plugin language, we are working to make the entire network sound and feel like Zodiac Craft.

Even some of the behind-the-scenes systems are receiving their own Zodiac Craft identity. For example, the server’s anti-cheat configuration is being transformed from its original Vulcan branding into Virgo, complete with custom colors, messages, alerts, and enforcement language that better matches the network.

These details may seem small individually, but together they help turn a collection of Minecraft plugins into a cohesive server.

ZodiacCraft.com

One of the most exciting milestones this week was the purchase of ZodiacCraft.com.

Having a clear and memorable domain gives Zodiac Craft an official home outside of Minecraft and Discord. The website will be an important part of the network, allowing players to register accounts, read updates, learn about the servers, meet the staff, submit applications, and eventually access additional community resources.

The website and its modules have already received extensive updates. Pages are being redesigned, information is being rewritten, and the overall experience is being aligned with the Zodiac Craft brand.

A custom staff page has also been created to introduce the people behind the server.

Instead of displaying a basic list of usernames, the new page gives each staff member their own profile with their role, biography, favorite Minecraft mob, favorite color, and zodiac sign. Owner profiles use cyan accents, administrators use purple, and the remainder of the staff team uses green.

The page also incorporates more detailed character renders rather than simple Minecraft heads, giving the leadership profiles more personality.

Meet the Team

Zodiac Craft is being developed by a growing group of people contributing in different ways.

FatherJasper ♍ is leading the revival and has been working across nearly every area of the project, including infrastructure, website development, branding, server configuration, community planning, and overall coordination.

flowerpiig ♉ brings approximately 14 years of Minecraft experience and 11 years of development experience to the team. As a former Towny player, she has also been helping shape the player experience, donor ranks, Creative progression, Hub improvements, and other important systems.

Tragic_Calliope ♓, Leszybee ♈, TeddiiDragon ♊, and Ink21 ♏ are also part of the growing staff structure, helping with building, testing, server development, and community support.

The current staff organization includes two owners, three administrators, and a senior moderator. As the server grows, we expect the staff structure to continue developing alongside it.

We have also reopened staff recruitment and are looking for a small number of additional people who genuinely want to help build the community.

Applicants are asked to create an account on the Zodiac Craft website before submitting an application. We are not simply looking to fill titles. We want people who are willing to contribute, communicate, test features, assist players, and help create a welcoming environment.

Developing the Game Modes

While the technical network is important, the worlds and gameplay experiences are what players will actually see.

Towny survival remains at the heart of the Zodiac Craft vision. We want to create an experience built around towns, communities, economies, player interaction, exploration, and events.

Creative is also under active development.

TeddiiDragon has been working on the Creative portal and Creative spawn, while Flowerpiig has begun planning the Creative rank system. The goal is to give builders meaningful progression and recognition rather than placing everyone into a world with no direction.

The Hub is also receiving improvements. It is the first place many players will see, so the team has been working to make it more welcoming, polished, and representative of the personality of Zodiac Craft.

Flowerpiig has been updating the Hub’s appearance and making it feel warmer and cuter, while additional portals and navigation areas are being developed to connect players with the different servers.

OneBlock is another part of the developing network, and additional community activities, events, and game experiences will be introduced as the core servers become ready.

Ranks, Rewards, and Progression

A significant amount of planning has gone into the network’s ranks.

The donor ranks are being carefully reviewed to determine which commands, cosmetics, perks, and benefits should be included. We want supporting the server to feel worthwhile, but we also want the experience to remain fair for players who never make a purchase.

The goal is not to create a pay-to-win environment. Donor ranks should focus on convenience, personalization, cosmetics, and meaningful extras without undermining normal gameplay.

Progression ranks are also being considered for individual game modes. Creative ranks, for example, can provide builders with goals, recognition, and additional opportunities as they participate in the community.

We have also explored ways to create a referral system that would allow us to track when existing players invite friends to the network. Rather than relying on a basic configuration file, the plan is to eventually create a custom Minecraft plugin backed by MySQL so referral information can work across the entire network.

That project has also involved learning the Minecraft plugin development process, setting up the proper Java development environment, and planning for compatibility with both current and future Minecraft versions.

Plugins, Shops, Parkour, and Other Systems

A Minecraft network contains dozens of systems that most players never think about until one of them stops working.

This week has included troubleshooting shop display issues, reviewing parkour reward configurations, improving join and leave messages, working with placeholders, configuring Discord integrations, and checking plugin behavior after the version update.

Some features can be configured quickly. Others require digging through logs, identifying compatibility problems, testing commands, and adjusting settings repeatedly.

Every warning or error discovered during development gives us another opportunity to make the server more stable before opening it to a larger audience.

The team is also reviewing how rewards, shops, permissions, prefixes, portals, and network-wide data should operate. Our priority is to build systems that are understandable for players and manageable for staff over the long term.

Testing and Streaming Development

Testing has been a major part of the process.

Leszybee configured their computer for the newest version and has been testing different elements of the server. Ink21 has also been exploring the updated network and checking features for problems.

Testing includes much more than logging in and walking around.

Commands have to be tested. Portals must send players to the correct server. Scoreboards must display the right information. Permissions must work for different ranks. Shops, menus, rewards, and messages all need to function properly.

Development and play testing have also been streamed at different points by Jasper and Flowerpiig.

Streaming gives the community a chance to see the work happening behind the scenes. It also allows players to offer ideas, watch problems get solved in real time, and feel involved in the rebuilding process.

Zodiac Craft is being built for the community, and we want the development process to reflect that.

More Than a Minecraft Server

The most important thing we are building is not a plugin, a spawn, or a website.

We are building a community.

Minecraft servers are easy to create. Lasting communities are much harder.

Zodiac Craft should be a place where people can log in after a long day, work on a town, build something creative, participate in an event, talk with friends, and enjoy being part of something.

We want players to have room to play in their own way while still maintaining a community that is welcoming and respectful.

That means building clear expectations, hiring the right staff, creating fair systems, communicating openly, and remembering that the people behind the usernames matter more than any individual feature.

What Comes Next

The next phase of development will focus on continuing to configure and test the individual servers, completing the Hub and Creative areas, finalizing rank structures, resolving plugin issues, improving the website, expanding staff resources, and preparing more of the network for players.

There will be more testing, more building, more configuration, and probably more than a few unexpected problems along the way.

That is part of building something from the ground up.

A week ago, Zodiac Craft was mostly an idea and a collection of plans. Today, it has a domain, a website, a recognizable brand, a developing staff team, updated servers, connected systems, active builds, custom configurations, and a clear direction.

There is still a long journey ahead, but the progress is real.

Thank you to everyone who has joined the Discord, watched the streams, tested the servers, applied for staff, shared feedback, or simply encouraged us as we work to bring Zodiac Craft back.

The stars are beginning to align.

Welcome back to Zodiac Craft.
